Create Clothes That You Love

No more stumbling around in the dark trying to draft your dream wardrobe, I'm here to guide you through the pattern cutting process one step at a time.

The waitlist is closed, but the doors to the membership open in just...

I only open for new members a few times a year, and we technically closed the doors yesterday.

But so many of you have already emailed me saying that you just missed the deadline.

So I'm extending this open doors for another day!

We close (for real this time) in...

Sound Familiar?

You learnt to sew because you wanted to create unique clothes that fit your body properly, but commercial patterns are giving you the same results as commercial clothing.

You want to draft your own patterns, but every time you try you hit a wall and end up more confused than when you started.

You’ve spent hours trawling through YouTube, books and blog posts, only to find conflicting information from every single one.

Sometimes you just wish you could ask someone and get a straight, clear answer that actually makes sense for your body and your project.

Pattern cutting feels a bit intimidating (apparently there's maths involved?!)

You know you can sew pretty well, but want to create clothes that look and feel professional.

Those are just a few of the things that I hear from new students.

And I want to tell you what I told them:

You CAN draft your own patterns from your own designs.

You CAN fit them to your body and finally understand fit.

You CAN make professional feeling clothes that look and feel like they were made for you. Because they were.

And I want to help you do it.

Hi! I'm Kate 👋

A professional pattern cutter with over a decade of industry experience.

I’ve seen my work on red carpets, catwalks and some rather well-known faces. (Including a few Royals. And Michelle Obama. Which still feels surreal.)

But the reason I built this community isn’t about any of that.

It’s because I know what it’s like to feel like you’re almost there, but it's still just out of reach.

To be a great sewer, but have the pattern cutting side feel confusing and intimidating.

To have tried the books, watched the videos, and still not really understand why your toile isn’t fitting.

The problem was never you. It was the lack of clear, consistent instructions, and someone to answer the questions that actually matter to your specific project.

Pattern cutting is a learnable skill. A properly teachable, genuinely exciting skill.

I built this community to teach it in a way that actually sticks, offering guidance at every step of the journey.

What's Inside The Community?

Online courses

A structured library of video courses at your level. Watch as many times as you need, at any time of day, from anywhere. Level 1 includes the full Pattern Cutting Essentials bundle plus courses to help you draft and fit your bodice and trouser blocks. Level 2 adds advanced courses including draping, evening dresses, jumpsuits, shirts and more.

Monthly live Q&A sessions

Once a month, bring any sewing, drafting or fitting question and get a real answer from Kate directly. More on this below, because it deserves its own spotlight!

Monthly mini tutorial

A new stand alone video tutorial added to the library every month. A new technique, a clever tip, a trending design. It varies, but it's always something to keep your skills building every month.

Monthly group challenge

A monthly drafting challenge to put your skills into practice and get to know your fellow members. I set the design, you draft it together.

Community forum

A space to share your makes, ask questions, get feedback and meet other sewers who are on the same journey. Genuinely lovely people, making genuinely lovely things.

Your Fitting Buddy. On Speed Dial. Every Month.

Picture this: You’ve spent three evenings on your trouser toile. There are drag lines somewhere under the seat that you can’t diagnose. The rise feels wrong but you’re not sure if it’s the front balance or the back. You’ve watched four different videos and come away with four different answers.

What if you could just ask someone?

Not a forum. Not a comment section. A professional pattern cutter who can look at your specific toile, in your specific situation, and tell you exactly what’s going on and how to fix it.

That’s what the monthly live Q&A is.

Once a month, you bring whatever you’re stuck on. A fitting problem, a drafting question, a design idea you want to work through, a construction detail you can’t figure out. Send photos of your toile, share sketches, describe the issue. I’ll help you work through it, live.

And Level 2 members get a second Q&A session each month, just for Level 2 students.

“Before becoming a Project Patterns member I felt overwhelmed with sewing patterns and learning how to tackle fitting and adjustments issues.

Through Kate’s phenomenal expertise, guidance, and teaching methodology, I have felt more confident understanding all aspects of sewing and pattern cutting.

Kate’s program will not only teach you the secrets and techniques of design and pattern drafting, but it will also help you develop skills that are essential in fitting and adjusting.

We don’t just learn the “how” we do it, but we get a great sense of the “why” we do it.

Every challenge in the program boosts your confidence and encourages you to enjoy and celebrate your creativity and a well fitted garment!”

The Summer Design Project

Ready to create a summer garment?

Starting on May 12th, our Summer Design Project is an 8 week guided project for all Level 1 and Level 2 members.

→ Design something you actually want to wear this summer

→ Draft your pattern using the membership courses to guide you

→ Sew and fit a toile

→ Amend your pattern

→ Make your final garment

Expect weekly live sessions to keep you on track and me by your side the whole way.

It’s the perfect way to start creating your own full garments. Whether it's simple or complex, drafted in full or half scale, you can create something beautiful.

You’ll meet the community, learn new skills, put them straight into practice, and start the summer with something you’ve made from scratch.

Don't have your own blocks yet?

That's ok! I'm encouraging students to use patterns that they already have at home as a starting point for this project.

You don't always have to start from a block, instead try updating and changing a well fitting pattern that you have at home.

Plus you can always work in half scale, all my half scale blocks are included in the membership.

Total beginner?

You can still create something simple. I'd suggest using a simple skirt or blouse pattern that you have at home and make some basic changes like drafting a new sleeve, adding length and frills or changing the silhouette. The pattern cutting essentials courses will be your library, I will be your guide.

Deep Dive Projects

This is the part of Level 2 that is truly unique.

Twice a year, we run a 12 week deep dive project on a brand new type of garment.

Part one of the project is all about learning. This is where you build your knowledge and skills for that specific garment type with new content every week and live support in the Q&A sessions.

Part two is where you design your own version, draft it, fit it and make it.

You choose a design.

You draft the pattern from your blocks.

You make a toile, fit it, amend it.

Then you cut into your real fabric and make the finished garment.

The whole process, from blank page to finished piece, with me alongside you the entire way.

Plus, every past deep dive is archived and available to all Level 2 members from day one.

Two Levels. One Journey.

Level 1

For anyone who is a confident sewer but is newer to the world of pattern cutting.

You're either completely new or you've tried drafting before and things haven’t quite clicked.

We build from the foundations up, step by step. By the end you’ll have your own

fitted bodice and trouser blocks and the skills to turn them into your own unique designs.

Think dart rotation, adding volume, changing silhouettes, creating new necklines, drafting your blocks from your own measurements, fitting them to your body and turning them into your own patterns.

Level 2

For students who have completed Level 1, mastered basic pattern cutting skills and are ready to push further.

More complex garments, deeper techniques, advanced fitting solutions, a focus on inner construction and the live deep dive projects.

You get everything in Level 1, plus dedicated Level 2 courses, an extra Q&A session, and the deep dive projects.

You need to feel confident with all level 1 skills before joining level 2. This is where we build on the knowledge and skills you gained in Level 1.

It’s real progression, and the key to understanding the why behind the how.

“I first came across Kate while searching for sewing courses and enrolled in her draft and design your own trousers course at the tail end of 2024.

It was one of the best things I have done for myself in a very long time.

I learnt so much and made and designed a pair of trousers that fitted my body in a design I loved and can now wear with pleasure and pride.

I have now joined Kate’s Project Patterns community and am continuing to learn new skills among a wonderful community of like-minded individuals.

Kate is so good at explaining how to draft designs, create details, approach fitting issues and give advice on sewing the actual garment.

For me, it is worth every penny of the subscription.

I honestly cannot recommend this enough.”
