• You’ve got some pattern cutting experience under your belt and you’re ready to push it further with more creativity and precision
• You have design ideas for shirts — silhouettes, details, shapes — but you’re not sure how to turn them into working patterns.
• You want to build your confidence in both drafting and sewing, with clear guidance on construction techniques like fusing, button stands, and plackets.
• You’re craving a chance to break away from ready-made patterns and design something that’s completely your own.
• You’d love the structure of a step-by-step process that ends with you designing, drafting, and sewing a full-scale shirt you’re proud of.
In this course, you won’t just learn how to draft a detail, you’ll learn how to think creatively with it.
After showing you how to create something like a Peter Pan collar, I’ll share real-world inspiration from fashion brands to spark new ideas.
Maybe it’s adding a frill, layering two collars, or reworking the shape entirely.
These small nudges are a key part of the course, helping you build not just skills, but the confidence to take them further and make them your own.
You're encouraged to collect your own inspiration images to spark ideas for your own shirt design.
This course doesn’t stop at drafting.
We take it all the way through to design, construction, sewing and most importantly, fit.
You'll learn how to fit a range of collars and sleeves, and how those choices can transform the overall silhouette of your shirt.
We look closely at how fit shapes design, and how inner construction supports both. It’s a complete, creative process, from sketch to finished garment.
Creative Shirts is a 12-week course that takes you from foundational drafting through to full creative expression.
You’ll start by creating your own shirt block, then explore a wide range of shirt details and silhouettes.
From collars and cuffs to yokes, plackets, dramatic sleeves, and tie fronts.
Alongside pattern cutting, we dive into design development, mood boards, fit, and inner construction techniques like fusing and finishing.
The final challenge?
Design, draft, and sew your own custom shirt using everything you’ve learned, with support every step of the way.
