Oh hey there!
Thanks for coming and checking out my little project…
I’m Kathryn, or Kate as most people call me, and this is Project:Patterns.
Since becoming a keen sewer, when I was a teenager, I have been a firm believer that everyone should learn how to create their own clothing.
For me, that doesn’t just involve learning how to sew but also how to pattern cut and create your own, completely unique patterns.
I was fortunate enough to study Fashion Design at Bath Spa University where I was given an amazing education in the basics of pattern cutting which really built the foundations of my knowledge.
From there I went on to train and work at some pretty wonderful brands such as Karen Millen, Peter Pilotto, Topshop and Emilia Wickstead.
Working with such a range of brands, from high-street to high-end has grown and evolved my skills in ways that I feel are unique.
Nothing can replace the highs of seeing my creations on A-list Celebrities when working at Peter Pilotto and Emilia Wickstead, as well as the highs of seeing my other creations in nation campaigns and on huge posters while with Topshop. But, having discovered a love of teaching, I’m now hoping that I can share that knowledge and maybe even inspire a few people to become pattern cutters themselves!
Project:Patterns is all about trying to teach the art of pattern cutting to anyone and everyone who has an interest in learning. So stay tuned for tutorials, tips and tricks galore!
